2018 Nissan LEAF

The Nissan Leaf is the most popular mass produced EV on the market having sold over 300,000 worldwide (dated back to 2010). It's known as one of the best and most iconic EV's, having taken the world’s best-selling electric vehicle award and was named the “2018 World Green Car“ at the 2018 New York International Auto Show.

And they have now released a new model coming this year!

As you probably all remember, late last year Nissan announced their next generation Leaf. The new Leaf is coming with a new look, twice the range (240km EPA rated), an energy density with a 40 kWh battery and much more, bringing it back up to speed with the current EV market.

At what price?

We currently don’t have any official prices in Australia, but in the US the 2018 Nissan Leaf will come in 3 variants: “S”, “SV” and “SL”. With the S model starting price at $29,990 USD, the SV at $32,490 USD and SL model at $36,200 USD. So you can get converting (but don't forget the on road costs, GST and “Australian Tax”) or we will just have to wait and see.

The Nissan Leaf is expected to come in 8 different colours, however, the Pearl White, Scarlet Ember Red and Two-Tone Pearl White/Super Black will only be available for the SV and SL models.

Any interesting features?

Well, the best feature is the "e-Pedal". This is their own version on regenerative braking, you can use one pedal to make the car accelerate, slow down, stop and remain still on a hill. Overall, this should increase driving efficiency and be all that a driver needs to operate the vehicle for majority of urban driving. In long term, this will help reduce the wear and tear on your cars brakes.

In addition to this, there is the new Nissan Leaf companion app, which enables you to see data and easily access many cool in car features. Such as remotely monitoring the cars temperature & charge status and can even lock/unlock it while it’s still sitting in the garage!

Be the first to know!

If you’d like to be one of the first to know about the release of the new Nissan Leaf in Australia you can sign up on the Nissan website: http://www.nissan.com.au/forms/2017-leaf-register-your-interest

However, if you're not looking to break the bank on a brand new EV, there are currently available second hand Leafs which are still great electric car choices!

So what are your thoughts on the new Nissan Leaf? Will it be your new EV?
