BMW i3s EV Electric Car Charging Guide
The bolder and brighter BMW i3s for Australia and NZ
Introduced in 2017 the i3s represented BMW's first attempt at applying the M formula to an electric vehicle.
While the original i3 is no slouch, the BMW engineers managed to extract more power and torque (125 kW to 135 kW, and 250 Nm to 270 Nm) out of the same power train. And the new i3s still has the original 94Ah / 33kwh battery pack.

Some say the BMW i3s EV will be a collectors car in years to come. We don't disagree!
The BMW i3s motor also has much more torque at higher revs for better acceleration when overtaking at speed, which looks like this:
0-37 mph: 3.7 s (i3s) vs 3.8 s (i3)
0-62 mph: 6.9 s (i3s) vs 7.3 s (i3)
50-75 mph: 4.3 s (i3s) vs 5.1 s (i3)
In keeping with the luxury brand's styling, the BMW i3s has the cute snub nose and unmissable look of the original i3, but with a new battery pack with double the storage capacity of its predecessor.
A new body finish, interior styling and adaptive LED headlights stay true to the vision of the i3s being an urban vehicle, suited to prowling city streets in search of single-origin bean espressos, but with the option to roam further afield when required.

Average time to recharge BMW i3s
Dealer Supplied Charger 12 hours
15 Amp Charger 5 - 7 hours

However, if you'd like a speedier charge up, we can help you reduce the time spent watching the battery charge up between trips out in your shiny new i3s!
If you have solar at home, the British-made Myenergi Zappi is the perfect EVSE charging companion. By hooking into your solar system to ensure you're never pulling from the grid to charge your i3s - raising and lowering the charge depending on what power you're pulling in the house - you'll get maximum EV/solar bang for your buck.
Note the I3s is 3 phase capable so if you have three phase at home then the three phase Zappi is the go.
