Built on the dedicated ground up platform MG4 EV has a clean interior and many standard features you would expect from a modern hatch only it's electric!
The MG4 EV is equipped with a CCS2 Combo / Type 2 Mennekes connector. The Type 2 Mennekes connector is what’s typically used at home and at destination chargers.
Please note that MG only supplies a slow portable charger with the car, which is fine for charging up overnight, but not so great for top ups in between trips. The large lithium battery in the ZS EV may take up to 24 hours from the standard EVSE or EV Charger.

Which electric car charge port does the MG4 EV use?
The MG4 is equipped with Type 2 & CCS2 charge ports. The Type 2 Mennekes connector is what’s typically used at home and at destination chargers. The CCS combination port allows for fast DC charging as well as the standard AC charging.

How long does it take to charge the MG4 EV at home?

While universal Type 2 charging stations are becoming the norm, there are still a number of Type 1 points around Australia and New Zealand which use the J1772 standard that the MG4 cannot natively take advantage of. So a J1772 to Tesla (Mennekes) adapter cable is the most suitable electric charging cable for your ZS EV .

How to charge the MG4 at a public Type 2 Mennekes EV charger
A Type 2 to Type 2 Mennekes cable will charge your MG4 EV at up to 7Kw / add 40 km for every hour of charge. An essential EV charging cable for every Mennekes Type 2 electric vehicle to enable safe and secure charging from public ‘Universal’ charging stations.
Most public charge points are now universal; this means the point has no in-built cable. The result is reduced maintenance and damage, as well as reduced liability for the owner of the station. If there is no permanent cable attached to the charger then there is less risk of it being driven over or generally being abused. They are otherwise known as BYO cable chargers.
