How long does it take to charge the Porsche Taycan at home?
As with many other EVs, our team highly recommends the British-made Myenergi Zappi for the e-tron as the best domestic wall charger on the market, especially if you have PV solar power or a home battery or Tesla Powerwall.
If you have solar panels at home or work, the Myenergi Zappi will ensure you're always using your self-generated renewables power when your Taycan is plugged in. This super smart system talks to your solar and makes sure you only charge your Porsche with surplus solar energy.
At a rate of 22kw, the Taycan can be fully charged in 4.5 hours

A type 1 to type 2 adapter will charge your Porsche up to 22kw / give you 90 kms per hour of charge.
For a long time, J1772 / Type 1 connectors have been the norm for domestic use. The issue for new car owners is there are many charging stations which use the J1772 standard which you cannot natively take advantage of. So a J1772 to Tesla (Mennekes) adapter cable is the most suitable electric charging cable for your Porsche .
This allows you to connect to J1772 charging stations; simply insert the J1772 plug to charge at up to 22kw or 90 kms of range per hour. Have a look at Plugshare map pic as an example of just how many J1772 charging stations are available in your area!
How to charge the Taycan at a public Type 2 Mennekes EV charger
A Type 2 to Type 2 Mennekes cable will charge your Porsche at up to 22Kw / add 90 km for every hour of charge. An essential EV charging cable for every Mennekes Type 2 electric vehicle to enable safe and secure charging from public ‘Universal’ charging stations.
Most public charge points are now universal; this means the point has no in-built cable. The result is reduced maintenance and damage, as well as reduced liability for the owner of the station. If there is no permanent cable attached to the charger then there is less risk of it being driven over or generally being abused. They are otherwise known as BYO cable chargers.
